Giang Bien – The village soul in the heart of the city

As the first destination in Roots Journey‘s development, Giang Biên represents our vision of authentic Vietnamese agricultural and cultural tourism—a model we are committed to growing and sharing.

Nestled along the tranquil Duong River, just over 10 km from downtown Hanoi, Giang Bien remains a place where traditional farming and rural heritage continue to thrive. As Hanoi’s largest traditional farming area, it invites visitors to see, touch, and experience the authentic daily life of local farmers:

From preparing the soil and harvesting vegetables to making specialty dishes like bánh đúc, chè lam, bánh rợm, weaving hammocks, and cooking a farm-style lunch.

Along the way, local farmers become your guides, sharing stories, traditions, and the enduring spirit of the land through every harvest.

Today, Roots Journey works alongside nearly 50 local farming families, with a vision to grow to 100 over the next five years. Together, we are shaping Giang Biên into a flagship model for future destinations that reconnect people with Vietnam’s land, culture, and heritage.

Aunty Nhài was our host- a great teacher and a cute, enthusiastic person. Very funny too. I loved cooking and eating the traditional snacks and hearing the farmers’ jokes and stories.
